They are not counterfeit, they are produced for New Sensor by the Chinese company. NS owns the Genalex name...

Does the existence of a New Sensor branded Chinese tube suggest uncertainty with NS's Russian operations? Or???
Interesting question... Well, I wouldn't know exactly, but I wouldn't think it's a reflection on New Sensor. Both Russian and Chinese products have generally ramped up quality and variety. I think this might be an attempt at both.
By appearance alone, it's pretty foreign-looking compared to modern designs. The mica's different, the plate structure is reminiscent of the olden days, and by my feel the glass seems slightly different too (thinner, less bulbous). They probably designed and bought new tooling for the purpose.
Taking another merciless stab at the subject, I think Russia's done a lot to release a ton of variety, especially to fill the midrange. For example, a New Sensor 12AX7 costs between $15-25 (or, $30 and $50 for the Gold Lions), where as China has either a $10 bee-in-a-can or $35-40 for the high-end Psvane TII or the TJ Full Music variant (which I love :D). There's very little middle ground. There are versions 1 through 5 for the Shuguang 12AX7, all apparently so-so by any tube standard. There is decent Chinese military stock still available, but it's not exactly hifi in my opinion. And don't get them mixed up... They all... look... the same... *facepalm*
Perhaps their take on the 7025 is to offer a new product which fits well into that midrange bracket. With that oldschool look but new design, new assembly method, and probably stricter parameters thanks to new tooling, there's lots of appeal to this 12AX7! This would be a win-win for Shuguang. They can sell slightly-off tubes for cheap, and sell the good batches to rebranders who can make a healthy profit.
Kinda makes me think though... I remember buying a Penta 12AX7-M, which is strikingly similar to the Philips-tooled 12AX7s. It was made in China. I wonder what happened to those...

May your tubes be lively and long-lasting. Holy be thy heater.
How does the Full Music 12AX7 compare to the pricier GL? I have the GL 12AX7 and like them and well as the Psvane 12AT7...both versions. The II does sound different than the first iteration.
