I'm using, and want to keep using, a NAD C275BEE amp (10k impedance input). My current preamps are a NAD C326BEE and Marantz PM8004The NAD has a razor sharp sound with a very noticable top end. The midrange is laid back to exagerate the upper and lower tones. Imaging and separation are great (possibly due to this tonal balance).
The Marantz is VERY full bodied and rich. It also maintains good separation, but not as good as the NAD, but not bad either.
1-What I am looking for is basically a marriage of the two.
2-less than $2k PLEASE
3-IR volume remote!!!!!
4-at least two or three inputs
5-No vinyl input needed
6-Looks count - would like the top open with tubes exposed. Not closed in like a CJ.charles

Music Refrerence designs excellent audio equipment. I have a Music Reference preamp which in my system sounds great. These new preamps are a new design.

John Broskie has some good Akido tube preamp and tube buffer kits, if you are handy with soldering iron and have some fabrication skills. You can find built preamps on major audio sites.
Here are some pics. They are remote controllable.
I’ll add my voice to those who feel it’s going to be tough to match all your points. What came to mind is the Transcendent Sound Grounded Grid, which uses, I believe, the 12AU7, is said to be lightning fast, detailed, extended and should be able to drive just about anything. Build it with K40Y-9 capacitors and carbon film resistors to warm it up a bit. Might do the trick, and the cost is low. There are also the tubes4hifi preamps, but I do not recall what kind of load they can drive.

I agree w/ Eli -- that's a tough wish list to complete in the price range. If you can forego the remote I'd recommend a Decware CSP3. It has variable input and output levels, so it will work with just about any power amp. The tubes are exposed and it looks as good as it sounds.

I own a Opera Consonance 222 pre-amp and use it with my 211 monoblock amps.It is well made, great sounding and meets all of your requirements.

IMO, you will have considerable difficulty in getting all that you want and that which you need, for the amount of money mentioned. The 10 Kohm I/P impedance of the NAD power amp has to be fully accounted for.
The AVA product I've linked below comes close to the mark. With the remote control, it's somewhat over budget. Also, the tubes are concealed. OTOH, it will effortlessly drive your power amp and rates to sound very good. I've owned an older AVA hybrid preamp for many years and will not part with it. IME/IMO it's great.

Charles,You may want to consider a tube buffer to ease the digital nasties. JMHO.
