Is there a 7 pin miniature version of 6SN7 or half a 6SN7? My search indicates NO but maybe I'm missing something. Perhaps something similar but not eqivalent? Different heater voltages? 7 pin mini only, I'm aware of other similar octal, 9 pin, loctals.
Thanks . . . Charlie

If you are using a differential pair, the 3a5 is a very fine sounding tube - as good as a 6SN7. It's a DHT - detailed and delicate. Mu of about 15 so in the ballpark

The 6FQ7 is a 9 pin equivalent, also comes in an 8 Volt version.
the 6BF6, which has a couple of diodes in it...this tube likely sounds and is cheap...
the 6AF4 is a lower plate resistance, and might be a better driver, I don't know it (its plate curves are quite non linear, might sound nice), however almost anything is a better driver than the 12AU7, so
there you go...
Good Luck,

As JJ Triode stated, you need 8 pins for two triodes. There is the 7-pin 6J6, which has one pin for both cathodes. It has higher mu and higher transconductance than the 6SN7. The 6J6 plate power rating is considerably lower, also. The 6J6 was invented for push-pull RF applications.
As mentioned, not enough pins unless it has a common cathode. E90CC (5920) has a mu of 27, Transconductance about double that of the 6SN7. Common cathode of course - same pinout as 6J6.
...unless they share a cathode or something. For a single triode, the 6ER5 and similar have a plate resistance not too different from half a 6SN7 (5K vs. 7K) but much higher gain factor (about 70 vs. about 20.) Some of these types e.g. 6GK5, 6ES5 are very inexpensive. Jim McShane has them, among others. They can perform very well, but are not electrically (or probably sonically) equivalent to a good 6SN7. Perhaps someone else knows a closer equivalent?
the 'or something' can include plate or grid caps...and under those conditions you've got the required more-than-8-connections to employ.

Douglas
Friend, I would not hurt thee for the world...but thou art standing where I am about to shoot.

...with the caveat that many "audiophiles" maintain a visceral disgust for the 12AU7.
