Tks for the kind advise from every one. It seemed that the closest pin out is 6BW6. Of course the 6V6 eq has only 40% of EL84 MHO, I just like to explore the sound diff between the 2 family when I exchange the tube, and I do like 6V6 sound a bit more then EL84. May be this is also due to the fact that 6V6 NOS is cheaper so I am actually comparing 6V6 NOS vs the Russian Sovtek and EH EL 84....
7C5 seemed to be a nice one of the kind tube. I have never used Octal base, though I have a few Octal tubes, are they the same diameter as the 9 pin miniture? I will mainly used some of the vintage amp nas doner, I got the 8 pin and 9 pin holes....tks and best rgds
6CZ5, 6CM6, 6BW6, 6061, 6973 (NOT cheap!) are all quite similar to 6V6. If you can use 12V filament, 12AB5 and 7061 are too.

I have not found one in 9-pin, however if one can use a loctal socket, the 7C5 is exactly equal to 6V6 & sell for $3 to $5 new old stock. The 7C5 is the best deal in a power tube per my 2 cents with the 6AQ5 just behind it with a little less power out.

William,Bendix 6094 is a nice 9-pin which has the output like a 6AQ5. I can't think of a 8-pin to 9-pin adapter, for you though...

6BW6/CV4043 is sometimes called a 6V6 equivalent, and is a 9-pin miniature type.
