I ordered some Siemens silver plate ECC82 and it arrived today, I found this is another great 12au7 after listened for 3 hours!Compared with my favourite Miniwatt long plate D-getter 1950s ECC82 the Siemens have better performance in extension, mare transparent and solid sound, great in piano and guitars, good in Classic music. Miniwatt good in vocal, a little less gain but sound softer, very good in the singer feeling reproduction, better especially in vocal ablum and violins.
Both great 12au7!
Follow Ups:

Hi Steven
I havent received mail from you...
I do not know who manufactured the tube, but it's a black plate "USAF" 6189, which is being marketed on eBay.These tubes in the Eastern Electric Minimax preamp, combined with a GEC 6x4 (driving the First Watt or Moore 10 Squared amp, and Decware HDT speakers), yields some of the best sound I've heard from any preamp. Similar warmth to the Siemens SP, but even more resolution. (I've tried other 12AU7s- The Amperex 7316, various Tung Sol, CBS 5814, to name a few. The Siemens Silver Plate would be my second choice.)
And best of all, the price is not hideous. I bought four more pairs!!

Just got my pair... well worth the $. Using them in my Consonance Basie. Slightly fat in the mid-bass with great resolution and smooth everything. Not quite as transparent as my personal favorite, though (RCA Command 5814). Better than the usual bargain 12AU7's by far (RCA cleartops, etc.). Thanks for the tip!

These look like Sylvania made tubes.

I have all the 12AU7 types you mention, and so far my favorite is probably the Siemens silver plate. Personally, I'm not sure having more resolution than silver plates is a good thing, but to find out, I ordered these ebay tubes. Now that I think about it, due to my audio PC, I'm not even using my modded CDP using 12AU7 tubes. Jeez, I gotta stop buying tubes I don't even need...

B9R,12AU7, first variety. Made by Neotron, France. February, 1962???
They kinda have this Mazda flavor, according to your description.

I found a good link for tube data just now.Date code Gf0 =/=2B
Gf : 12au7
0 : first variety
=/=: Siemens & Halske, Munich Germany?? Neotron, France??
2 : 1962 < without long plate, d-getter ---- Most 1950s did >
2 : 1952? < first variety of 12au7 should be in 1950s? >
B : Februaly.I found it's great in heavy mental too, but the 1950s Miniwatt's vocal & warmer midrange is also unbeatable.

I have a few of the boutique ECC82s and I love the chrome plate Siemens. The Philips/Mullard/Valvo bottom line of acid etched codes went to the 4 character code in the '60s, with the last character being the week of the month. Siemens did use this code early on, so my guess would be '52, but you really can't rule out '62. I don't know the variations of the chrome plate, so I can't say too much about it. I think I have 5 of these tubes, so maybe I'll check on them later and post if I find anything interesting.
I have another pair of old Siemens old ECC82, the etched code is like this: K61 =/=6C (=/= : unequal in math), the labeling on the glass is Siemens ECC82, grey ribbed plate, D-getter without getter support and without a flat cross bar. etched code : K61 =/=6C
K61 : ???
=/= : Siemens & Halske, Munich Germany
6 : 1956?
C : MarchWhy K61 not Gf? 1956?
In my system this D-getter Siemens cann't beat the Silver plate at all, the Silver win easily .(May be because of the testing datas too, the Silver Plate measure 96/95 92/92 on my TV7, D-getter measure 70/72 80/54).
D-getter : March 1956?
Silver plate : Februaly 1962 or 1952????

the 12A*7 family is an older tube and early '50s is in line with the type, whereas the 6DJ8/6922/7308s were '56/'57 onwards.I have 3 and the top lines are faint, but:
Gf0/Munich code/1/J for the first pair and...
Gf4 (?)/Munich code 4/J.I like 'em and sent them to some buddies from the AA chat and they liked them as well, amongst a small group of others that I sent along for comparison's sake.
B9R,Is the symbol like a "not-equal to" symbol, used in math? Like, on the link, seven symbols down on table.
Then, the tubes were probably made in Deutschland, in the 50's. I've, in general, found that the German made 9-pin minis are more aggressive sounding than their Holland made brothers.

---------Is the symbol like a "not-equal to" symbol, used in math? Like, on the link, seven symbols down on tableRight!
I think it's from Germany too, compared to the Holand made it's more "aggressive", more extension, better up and down, more transparent, but weaker in the Midrange, especially the vocal.
B9R,Yeah, that sounds like a "typical" German Siemens tone compared to Holland Phlips made tubes, throughout 9-pins.
The Valvo German made 9-pin minis are dynamic, like the Siemens, but seems to have a healthier midrange tone.
