Also requires bias change, Tone is somewhat like an old octal 6AQ5. These boys and TungSol 6094 are tough as nails.

Steve,Thanks, I'm not too technically minded, but can you adapt EL821 or
EL83, to work as EL84?Nicolas
Micron,With enough soldering, wire, and duct tape (you may need to removesome from your windows :-), proper voltages & biasing you can just about make any power tube, in the power range of the OEM, worked (depending on the color of your sox, phase of the moon, and the good Lord willing).
The Svetlana SV83 (why they never made an EL84 type and cash in on a big market, is beyond me), is a copy of the old EL83. This is basically desined as a VIDEO amplifier. Pinout is the same, but, the screen voltages need to be much lower (200 volts max).
The EL82 sounds like an interesting tube. Made more for audio application. YOu still need to drop the screen voltage. The EL821 seems to be a mil spec version of the EL82, but used for radar applications???

.........what about using EL803?
Hello ,
why not E80L from Valvo , load resistance in push-pull is 9 k , near EL84 , pinout is a little bit different , power is 9 watt at 250 volt with 150 ohm cathode resistor , power consumption 2x29,5 mA . Perhaps you are the first who build an amp with this tube , I have this idea for a long time , but I didn`t do it till now . This tube is very cheap on e-bay.de because nobody is searching it .
Regards , AlexK.
