Haven't used them, haven't thought about whether they might impair performance. I generally don't use toroidal components in audio amplifiers. The only toroids I have are filament transformers.

So you don't use O transformers in audio amplifiers, Why?
O power transformers can be made with very low DCR

Well, I don't use them as OPTs because they saturate abrubtly, and I don't use them as power transformers because they're too ugly. All that aside, nearly all of them are made in China now, and I don't design high end audio gear with Chinese parts.

I have the same concerns hence almost all the parts i buy are surplus military. Way too much commerce flows through and from China, people need to wake up and realize what they support when they don't buy made in usa.
Sorry guys, but I can't let this pass any longer. Half the reason so much manufacturing went to foreign countries (not just China) is that American labor got so expensive that they were not competitive with the rest of the world anymore. It is a world economy now guys, whether you like it or not, and the sooner we realize that we have to spend our efforts doing what we do best (or did anyway), like our ability to be innovative, the better off we will be. We just aren't trying like we used to anymore. Look at alternative energy; we had the expertise to get an industry going in that but let others get the jump on us. We have a few pioneers still, like Musk with the Tesla, but not near enough. And please don't tell me that we need to have tariffs and higher import taxes because all that does is punish the consumer. What we need to do is get back to producing more than we are consuming, and we have a long ways to go on that one as it stands right now. First we have to come up with products the rest of the world wants. Not many of those around at the moment. This whole thread will probably get yanked now, but I think it's about time someone spoke up about the other side of the story.

What your hypotheses fails to acknowledge is the lack of infrastructure costs that support those things we consider necessary to a civilized way of life. The majority of China doesn't even have wastewater treatment. We maintain our quality of life with the higher wages and increased costs of manufacturing that render us "noncompetitive." In fact, the quality of life this provides is the reason most Chinese are dying to emigrate. The irony is that the very mechanism that gives them the fortunes necessary to relocate here is destroying the reason to do so.

You can take solace in the fact that they are starting to follow the same path we did; wanting better wages, cleaner air, more durable goods, fancier food and wine, etc. Give it 20 or 30 years (or sooner) and there will be a new country that becomes the labor capital of the world. It is an ever repeating cycle.

It's a good rule to live by
I try but sometimes you just don't know what gets outsourced these days.
Hell, I don't shop at Walmart for this reason
Good for you! It's becoming increasingly difficult to find non-Chinese products though. Ours is one of the few hobbies where it's possible to build and maintain something worthwhile without being victimized by globalized junk.

Yeah I understand I just thought there was some other reason
Thanks for the reply
