So, when switch is off the voltage is dropped by the large resistor keeping the B+ down while the tubes are warming up. Then you flip the switch and the full B+ is allowed.
Have you monitored this technique to see what the voltage does. If there is any overshoot while the load stabilizes? Also when the switch is connected how much of a noise is made?

Never tried it myself, just speculating one way to do it better than having an open circuit. I'd like put cap across switch terminals to minimize spark when opening / closing.

Placing a small cap directly across contacts can actually weld them together. A series RC is required to quench contact arcing.
