Like SV 6550C?

I've run vintage TungSol 6550s and reissue TungSol 6550s all the time. The early reissue TS 6550s sounded very good but they didn't hold up well to 470v applications..Now they may have gotten more reliable in the higher voltage ranges..Jim McShane would be the best one to ask.I would love to get some reissue TS 6550s again if they can take the 500v rating like the originals.

Kind of a shame. That is one very fine tube. Super tough.
I never had any in my hands to run but I do have some 6550 straight bottle GEs and those are fantastic and I heard that the SED 6550s are a lot like them..Can I still get the SED 6550s because I think I can get Svetlana 6550s as those are New Sensor?

SED (=C=) 6550s are still avail but since they're no longer in production, they're considered NOS so you'll probably pay a premium for them. IME they were pretty decent but not worth any premium then or now.
What 6550 would you use, between 1990-2000? NOS GE or Tungsol? IME, those are about the only 6550 that can handle some of the plate voltages and abuse amps of the late 1960 through 1980s could dish out.Tone of the 6550 is not bad. Ok, it's not a GE or Tungsol. But, those were no longer available. Other modern 1990-2000 era 6550 tubes were not good.
IMHO, of course.

Not sure why you think I didn't like the =C= 6550Cs. I believe they were somewhat better than competing 6550s such as say the EH6550WEs or Tungsol reissue 6550s or the various contemporaneous Chinese 6550s in terms of life and general ruggedness. They weren't really competitive with NOS GE 6550As, or real Tungsol or Sylvania 6550s in these regards but at least were readily available. Bottom line is that while somewhat "better" than "standard" current production 6550s, I wouldn't pay a premium for them over what's currently available.
