In Reply to: RE: Specifying plate chokes , what makes plate chokes different to power supply chokes posted by Al Noakes on May 02, 2016 at 07:07:09
I think you are correct about taking HF behavior into account. A loading choke needs to be effective out to perhaps 100 KHz. OTOH, a PSU filter choke needs to be effective at the ripple freq. and a few overtones.

If you're going to be ordering plate chokes from a good winder and can sell them at a competitive price, then there will be some interest.
The Hammond 126 series are my current plate choke go-to so anything as good and cheaper, or better with some fancy materials would be most welcome.
Good for UK and European builders so we don't have to pay too much shipping.
This is a bit off topic, but I have noticed a good many people looking for various types of chokes...specifically plate and grid chokes. You might want to check with Mike at Magnequest regarding his recently introduced series of iron. He mentions that he has some new winding methods that he has recently developed. He also offers various types of alloys that he makes available with various models. Full disclosure here, I've been using some of his iron in some of our recent work with enormous satisfaction.http://magnequest.blogspot.com/
