I found a BD505 hidden behind a heatsink that I suspect is the cause of intermittent noise. This is a 250V 4 EL509 tube push pull setup.
I can't locate a direct replacement in Digikey and am loathe to trust NOS from eBay. Any current production transistor recommendation. I can't clearly see the package but is a round black case through hole type and must run hot.I cannot see how it attaches to the heat sink except by being pressed against it.

or voltage regulator..An NTE171 will work just fine and it's even a bit heaver duty. I did a data cross but I know the BD505 and that series and you cannot get that anymore from motorola.
