What woods are you using? How will you finish the wood?

By the way, the dark corners are made of ebony.

Sure doesn't look like ebony (looks more like rosewood, or maybe padauk). Regardless, I'd be concerned with the structural integrity as butt joints are not particularly strong in the first place, particularly since the wood is so thin. And, if that is indeed ebony, it is an oily wood that most glue does not adhere to well.
Sorry for the mishap, you are right, it is mahogany and not ebony.

The interior bracing shown gives long grain strength. The Ebony with hopefully adequate glue (epoxy or Super) and technique ( a wipe down with lacquer thinner) does also. Should be fine.
I like the contrast of the corners, and also the lighter top. The waxed version will allow people to feel the grain (I really like the tactile feel of wood with little on top of it). Be sure to post some images of each finish once you've gotten that far.

For finishing I like transparent water enamel.
This time a friend of mine has promised to show to me how to use sealing wax for one of the two.

I use beechwood, birchwood multilayer (top & bottom panels) and iroko.
