If I am not mistaken, Cary uses those caps on all their products. No offense to their engineers, but I am guessing that he must have a great deal with Nichicon on those. They are ok for power amps but 4 of them are overkill for a 4 x 6sn7 preamp. Of course those 4 caps have a nice aesthetic for the piece but if you are more concerned about the sound I would find a way to replace them with film caps. I would think 40uf x 400vdc would be good. I don't know what the exact requirements for your preamp would be and I am just brainstorming. cheers, Dak

Cary Audio engineers? Hired guns, maybe. But no in house engineers.
