Will 10mA be sufficient ?
Thanks.
Alan
Follow Ups:
I need to run the 6BX7 tube (as cathode follower) around at least 20mA to run the tube into its linear working region.
With around 250V at the cathode of the 6BX7 and running at 25mA (a 10K resistor) the resistor will be running at 6-7 Watt with only the standing current.
To add the music, it will probably running at 10W and I need to more than double that for safety factor, I will need a minimum probably a 20-30W resistor.
Any suggestions what good quality resistor (10K at 30w) I can use for that ?
Alan
If you use a BX7/BL7, the cathode follower becomes unnecessary.
If I use the 6BX7 as the driver (replacing the 12AU7) and get rid of the cathode follower,
The 6BX7 will need an anode resistor. The anode resistor will also be running at 6-7 Watt. (250V and 25mA across the resistor)
So I still need a good quality 25W resistor ! Any suggestion for this resistor ?
Series connection of wire wound? 12W Mills run to 1/4 of their dissipation should be sufficient.
cheers,
Douglas
