I did post this over at the tube forum. But it seems NO ONE has actually seen or built this kit. So I'm not really getting actual reviews or reasons why I should or shouldn't try this kit.
I am trying to choose between the Latino ST-70 kit and the Triodelectronis ST-35 kit. Here are my reasons and needs below.
1- heat - I'm moving to Arizona and will be in a room 10-12ft at BEST. so I can't get anything that generates too much heat.
2- Sound quality for classical music. This is important! - plain and simple. Classical music of all kinds.
3- Listening level is normal to low. NO loud stuff so I don't need power.
4- My speakers are 89db and I am currently using a 20 watt amp with MORE than enough power.
5- Preamp is a Conrad Johnson with a 6922 tube.
6- To a lesser extent price. Yes I am on a budget.
My choices are the Latino ST-70 or Triode ST-35. I need the better kit for my needs. Some questions are the 35 uses diode rectification. However I always remembered the EL34 ST-70 as a fine amp. I had a 35 as a kid and remember that one fondly as well.
However, I am not finding any reviews of the 35 performance, support is needed, etc...
The Latino does offer a one package all in one upgrade. And it does offer different output tubes if you choose at a latter date.
Any advice or input would be appreciated.

Buy the ST-35.
And I thought I was finished trying to choose between the two.
I trust YOUR judgement - why should I take the VTA 35 over the 70?

1. You don't need the extra power.
2. The ST-70 has a rather unsavory power supply, with very stressed components that are very picky regarding which rectifier tube you use.
3. Old stock EL84's cost way less than EL34's.
4. The 12DW7 in the ST-35 is a bit easier to get than the 7199.
You might find reading about the K&K Audio ST-70 kit useful. Use the link below and scroll down to the bottom of the page. The output stage is configured as PP differential with a CCS tail impedance, so the output is restricted to class A. This limits the output power to 12-14W. This might be a little low for your 89dB speakers. Still, worth looking at.
My mono-blocks use this output stage topology (4 KT-120s, PPP) and they sound so much cleaner than any AB1 amp that I have ever heard.

If you decide on any of the versions of ST-35 or SCA-35 Dave Gillespie's very low cost EFB mod is smart to add for Output Tube life and nicer sonics and lower heat output.
There's also the kits at DIYtube.com for the ST35.
I have heard both and the 35 is the better sounding amp, generally even regarded as the best sounding Dyna amp ever made.
Diodes can be OK and produce less heat to boot, but you have to use good ones (high speed/soft recovery).
PP6bq5s are good sounding and since you are in a smaller space and playing at low levels, consider strapping them in triode.
I've heard the Dynakit Parts ST35 and really enjoyed it. I am a big fan of EL84's and this was one sweet sounding rig. I bought the transformers from Dynakit Parts (no affiliation, though I have bought lots of components from them over the last couple years)to build my own clone, but they sit unused by my bench. I tried the Latino ST70 board in an ST70 (duh) and found that for me, it way too much gain, even switching to lower gain tubes (IIRC 12AT7s switched to 12AU7). Don't know if it helps but here is a link to some ST35 related info:
All else being equal, the ST 35 would make less heat I suppose.
If the power of the ST 35 is adequate for your needs, then not much point in getting the bigger amp, unless you are certain it sounds better for whatever reason.
