Ordered a pair of 100K TKD pots installed one and was quite happy. Went to install the other as a step up and damn if the pot wasn't defective. One side worked fine, the other channel was in reverse !!!!
Drove me crazy as I hadn't thought to double check what was supposed to be a new pot (Hong Kong Sourced, BTW)

Hong Kong Is a part of China since the Brits gave it to them several years back.
Maybe it was a balance control, not a VC? I have not seen them built that way, but it might account for the issue. Is it linear taper?
Sorry, but you get what you pay for.

I've purchased NTE Zeners which were dead shorted in the package.
NTE DIsclaimer

How do you anything is not outsourced to China? Pint is You need to use your own QC inspection. Never assume that because it is new it should be ok.
Package was labeled made in Mexico, BTW.
While I like made in USA components, even US made can be prone to faulty QC. The best quality were remnants from WWII and Korea, when the entire country was united for the sake of out "boys". These days everything is designed to make a buck

I try, if at all possible, not to source parts from china. PEC from Canada is what I use for pots.
Hong Kong is not China...

'Hong Kong is not China......' Why do you think its not part of China?
That would be a great question for you to ask someone from there. Better yet, mention that they're from China and see how they react.

"Better yet, mention that they're from China and see how they react."
Hong Kong is a SAR (Special Administrative Region) of China. Everyone in HK knows exactly what that means. They might not like it, might not want to accept it, but they know. I was in mainland China in the summer of '97 when the handoff took place. I can assure you every mainlander knows exactly what it means, too. :)

I have several friends from and in Hong Kong as well as Taiwan which I also see referred to similarly around here.
Dave
No idea what you mean. You said Hong Kong isn't China. That's not correct, and residents of both places know it.
