I'm starting my first PP amp and it will be mostly done with loctal tubes. As this socket type is new to me perhaps there are some pointers you all might pass along. Is there any "do this, don't do that" sort sort of lore regarding loctal sockets?
Thanks,
Robert
Follow Ups:
Don't solder components to the middle lug of the socket - that is shield connection for the base.
The nub on the base tells you which direction to pull when you remove one from the socket.
Open out the spigot connection (very slightly) on the socket before use using pliers or you'll have trauma removing the tubes .
Thoroughly clean the pins . I use a pot scourer followed by a fibreglass pencil and isopropynol

Use a sacrificial tube clean the pins very well and cycle it a few times in the socket. The sockets can be quite possessive :)
Oh, and the obvious, locktol sockets are numbered same as octal sockets but pinout of locktol tubes can be Very different than thier octal equivalent.
