Greetings- I need to build a few heavy duty battery "sleds" to contain a pair of 26650 and/or 18650 lithium batteries. I assume that there is a reasonably priced non- conductive material (1/8-1/4 inch thick) sold in sheets that can be glued/epoxied together to form a small 2 x 3 inch rectangular box. The problem that I'm having with a Keystone sled is that I have to remove the battery contacts to solder (12 and/or 14 gauge wire) due to the high heat required that would otherwise melt the plastic sled. Suggestions on a material and/or a source ?? Thanks, Paul

Many building stores have it.
The OP wants something that won't melt under high heat.

if fiberglass will work, check out here...

Garolite is essentially what you're looking for. (McMaster Carr has it) I would also buy some steel or aluminum angle iron, then rivet the whole thing together with the angle iron along the edges, but that's just me.
McMaster's "Garolite" materials are a good choice. See http://www.mcmaster.com/#garolite/=wuonfjNote that some are actually "phenolic": traditionally named
paper-base XX (not so good)
canvas-base CE (stronger)
linen-base LE (smoother, almost as strong as canvas-base)
Under that trade name, they also have the familiar glass-epoxy materials:
G-10
G-10/FR4
McMaster stocks both sheets and useful shapes (including angles).
If you can't find it at McMaster-Carr, you probably don't need it.

Fiberglass sheet would be good for this. I don't know if thin sheets are available on eBay, but if not, a plastics supply house should have it. Google should be able to locate something for you.

How about sheets of Formica, like used for countertops?
