The silver foil paper in oil are incredibly good sounding caps however as good as Jensen caps sound,a paper in oil cap needs to be sealed whether it be hermetically or at least the way that Jensen does the Deuland pio caps.
Paper caps have to be isolated from moisture in order for then to have a long life and keep spec.

So it will only be blocking about 100v and not too much heat the tubes or on top open to air caps inside. Reliability issues huh I was reading about that but assumed it was exaggerated. But you think it's an issue I take it.
The Deulands are much more reliable because they are sealed..Like Max said, they do sound really nice but they have catastrophic failures at times..Jensen caps are the ones that got me hooked on paper in oil caps.
The point is,you are going to pay an awful lot of money for this type cap and they are prone to failure.
I don't know what application you are using this in but I would try the Russian KBG caps and you can use a small bypass cap if you want to do a little tuning..What value cap do you need?

They would be used as coupling in a vintage tube amplifier. I was really looking to take advantage of Partsconnexion 40% off Jensen sale:) Just trying to max out the amp it sounds really good already.
I had a Jensen copper foil PIO short out in a week with only 225V on it, in a cool preamp chassis. I avoid them in HV applications now. They do sound good...when they work...
but I did not think they sounded so great that I regretted the decision not to use them again. "Good", yes.
Wow, I've used Jensen copper for over a dozen years, as well as a friend for close to ten years, no issues whatsoever.

I have as well as they are wonderful caps..The thing is tho, there have some failures with the silver foil Jensens and as good as they are,it's an awful lot of money to lose if they fail.

I did have one jensen PIO suffered from oil lead problem, that was over 10 yrs ago, I got a replacement from Jensen directly. I use them everywhere, pre, phono, power amp. I like them a lot. I think Jensen has fixed the problem cos I and all my friends have zero problem with them at all.
I also like the copper tube type PIO, sealed both ends but cost more than double.

That's good news..
