Hello all,
According to Morgan Jones', these or a lossy bead are needed to avoid RF oscillation. Does someone have an idea of the inductance value needed? I use 866jr.
TIA!

The recommended approach in the RCA tube manual for "snubbing" 866s and other mercury vapor rectifiers (like the 83) is to connect a 1 to 2.5 mH inductor (or RF choke) in series between the HV secondary connections and the 866's plates, also a 0.001 uF HV cap from the junction of the power trannie's HV secondary and inductor to ground - this will necessarily have to be a high voltage cap, at least 3X the rated AC voltage. In addition, the RCA manual also suggests some form of RF screening / shielding around the 866s, to eliminate any radiated RF noise.
