Mikey,For the record, ONLY me, Jeff has ever recommended the Triad C-40X choke up here. The inexpensive C-40X is OK for L2 but very marginal under load for L1. Dennis ( and I ) typically would prefer to use the later style Stancor C-2708, ( same spec, measures different ) made in Thailand, but unfortunately, NLA.
In "this world", the other Mikey ( M.Q. ) today, could do one and it could / would be even better.
Regards and best wishes,
Jeff

You told me the .32hy was a great choke and I bought like 6 of them about 4 years ago.

So did others, but the best sounding and performing 0.32 HY choke was no longer available back then... the Stancor C-2708 made in Thailand, which was Stancor's final production of that model number. The Triad C-40X is OK as in L2, but not under heavy load as a L1 ( right after the rectifier ), an inductor input. Both Ls were rated .32HY at 600 mA., each about 10 Ohms DCR as I recall.

Ah ok.
The Triad shouldn't be too bad tho. Doc Hoyer is probably one of the biggest authoritarians on transformer technology in the country.I don't think McIntosh would have him winding their project transformers along with the Mi350 and 3500 transformers if he was a schmuck.I'm going to give the .32hy a try and execute it the way he told me just to see the measured results. When I get time of course.

He did a MI200 output trans in the 90s for me and it still works.
Excellent.
