I've got my 2a3 amp up and running again with a flywheel.. and am dealing with hum as well.
I'm going to work on the ground system but suspect the "easy fix" would be ~ 100uf at C2. :)
I don't think the hybrid bridge has anything to do with your hum issue.
Follow Ups:
I recall C2 needing about 150-200uF to keep things quiet at the OPT secondary last time I had the 2A3 mono circuit running.
Grounding is always a concern, but you have built that circuit so many times it is probably not the issue.
I was up to around 240uf before I blew it up last time. it was considerably quieter.
I"m actually not bothered by the hum however its definitely more than just filament hum at this point!
Eliminate the Flywheel and go LSES Sean. You want L1 to equal L2, musically speaking !!!
Don't be "sure" about a Hybrid, its a possibility, easy to swap out any Center Tapped PT in its place !!! I'd swap L2s first, then do the PT with a Center Tap listen !!!
It fascinates me to hear of other poster's ideas on this. Very cool.
We will find out hopefully !!
