In the Altec 1570 the 17173 was used in the cathode circuit of a pair of push-pull drivers to the output stage.
It will work well as a center tapped plate choke. It is spec'd at 250 Henries when built on M6. A higher perm material like nickel will
produce much,much greater L.
And it is inherently balanced btwn the two winding halves on both the DCR as well as L fronts. The two ends of the winding also have balanced capacitances to ground (ct).

That's good - I estimate a 10Hz cutoff with 6SN7s. As long as it will also handle 42vRMS each side (84v end to end) down to (say) 30Hz than it should be fine in the Brook design.
