Unfortunately, sometimes the ignorant people are also convinced it is a crime not to give you information they believe will make your life better. They can be very self-righteous about it. I can think of a couple of people like that.
These boards are privately run affairs, so as much as you may regret it, if you run into one of them where the moderators have a southern Italian attitude, there isn't much you can do about it.
I agree, the moderators here do a pretty good job of sticking to their policy. Though I don't always agree with the policy, it is consistent.
The treatment you received at the hands of old Bone-apart was pretty despicable. I don't blame you for having some sour aglianico about it...

...over there, it's pretty clearly stated that moderators, moderation policies and moderator actions are not acceptable topics of discussion. Violations are not tolerated and are dealt with swiftly and usually without recourse. Not defending anything but as you note, these are generally private enterprises and can be run in any manner the owners see fit. IOW, you participate at their pleasure and your own risk.
Ya but like everyone else stated what was the offense? They (AK) decided not to state it. Simply violated what rules? Apparently rules are made up as desired.
It does not break my heart to be banned, but playing by the rules should be by everyone!
...so I don't know the details of your situation but from what's been posted here it seems your ultimate infraction was to openly question a moderator's action, decision or judgement, a very serious violation of their rules of participation. Doesn't matter if you were right or wrong . Again, not defending anything but you simply don't mess with the moderators over there, it's their definition of "mess", and management backs their moderators 110%. Just the way it is. As you've read, some like this more active form of moderation, some don't. It is a contrast to here where moderation is a somewhat more laid back affair. i.e. The continued existence of this thread is proof of that.
Later!
I am defending the level heads and wisdom of the moderators here at AA by comparison more than anything else. After all, I was not banned from building amplifiers. LOL.
