for removing a thread of one inmate telling the another to 'give it a break'
If you did your job, the inmates wouldn't have to.
Kindly put the thread back.

AA has reasonable moderators. Audiokarma moderator Grumpy banns audiophiles for life and refuses any reason for such with his Neapolitan attitude. When I was banned it caused an uproar among the most conservative & technical audiophiles at AK.
I think it was a shame AK banned you. (sony6060)
I've stopped visiting that site and use this one exclusively. I think the moderation here is perfect.
That includes you and many others at AK. The moderators here are civil without any weirdness, off kilter attitudes and a great sense of fairness to all. They are simply professional persons with a level mind set. I been here at AA for over 15 years watching this site and the occasional conflicts. I only been attacked by other members here, not the moderators.
The issue at AK is when one takes the time contributing to the site helping others and an idiot tosses that continuing work out the door due to the equivalent of a 'bad hair' day. He should grow up. After all, people that contribute make the site! Grumpy believes the site is all his, the rest of you do not matter (beyond your membership that floats his boat). The Neapolitan attitude.
Are the people of Naples not friendly and gracious?

Henry you are one of the smartest persons around. Dry humor, ok.
Sorry, and thanks for understanding. I think you meant Napoleonic, LOL.
I have my opinions about the moderation on this board, but best not to get involved.

I believe it is a crime to censor info that can make others lives better- even in audio. And, some people seem perfectly at ease telling you what is good for you yet do not even posses any skills to make a qualified decision. That is ignorance.I was a member at AK 12 years ago and was banned by a moderator called Jack. I disagreed with a reply from Jack to my original post and asked him (assume Jack is a male) to reread the post. To my utter amazement moderator Jack or someone within the AK organization having access edited my original post to support his disagreement- unbelievable! I stated such and was banned. This is a fact, not some BS.
You will not see that here at AA!

Unfortunately, sometimes the ignorant people are also convinced it is a crime not to give you information they believe will make your life better. They can be very self-righteous about it. I can think of a couple of people like that.
These boards are privately run affairs, so as much as you may regret it, if you run into one of them where the moderators have a southern Italian attitude, there isn't much you can do about it.
I agree, the moderators here do a pretty good job of sticking to their policy. Though I don't always agree with the policy, it is consistent.
The treatment you received at the hands of old Bone-apart was pretty despicable. I don't blame you for having some sour aglianico about it...

...over there, it's pretty clearly stated that moderators, moderation policies and moderator actions are not acceptable topics of discussion. Violations are not tolerated and are dealt with swiftly and usually without recourse. Not defending anything but as you note, these are generally private enterprises and can be run in any manner the owners see fit. IOW, you participate at their pleasure and your own risk.
Ya but like everyone else stated what was the offense? They (AK) decided not to state it. Simply violated what rules? Apparently rules are made up as desired.
It does not break my heart to be banned, but playing by the rules should be by everyone!
...so I don't know the details of your situation but from what's been posted here it seems your ultimate infraction was to openly question a moderator's action, decision or judgement, a very serious violation of their rules of participation. Doesn't matter if you were right or wrong . Again, not defending anything but you simply don't mess with the moderators over there, it's their definition of "mess", and management backs their moderators 110%. Just the way it is. As you've read, some like this more active form of moderation, some don't. It is a contrast to here where moderation is a somewhat more laid back affair. i.e. The continued existence of this thread is proof of that.
Later!
I am defending the level heads and wisdom of the moderators here at AA by comparison more than anything else. After all, I was not banned from building amplifiers. LOL.
Much appreciated. I don't even recall the thread, but good moderation is (in my experience) necessary.

As much as we would like for the community to manage itself, there hasn't been much success on that front in the past. In this case, inmates commented on the rude post and we then did our job.
Fax mentis incendium gloria cultum, et cetera, et cetera...
Memo bis punitor delicatum! It's all there, black and white,
clear as crystal! Blah, blah, and so on and so forth ...
Moderator seems to have removed a rude post, along with a few replies below it, including one that correctly advised said rude poster to 'give it a break'.
Good work on the part of whomever is moderating.
I wish a moderator would remove your obnoxious cat video.
Nothing to do with what you indicated.
The moderator is worthless!
'Give it a break' was LONG overdue! The moderator should have done so.
Nothing rude about said comment.
Far worse has been exchanged on the forum.
Egos and control freaks (on both sides) control this forum.
The pendulum has swung to the other side.
I am pleased to see some action.
I suspect the moderators are busy and probably have more important things to do than reprimand intelligent, educated people who should know how to conduct themselves, but...
The ongoing worth of this forum depends on effective moderation. Most people involved with well-performing groups understand the importance of values/ codes of conduct/ behavioural guidelines. This goes beyond meeting the minimal legislative and ethical requirements; it is about ensuring you can work *effectively* as a collective. This is simple stuff.
'nuff said on this from me.
Cheers.

LOL!
Hard to disagree on THAT point.
Perhaps that will change.
Still, the rude post and the replies (including the 'give it a break' post) under it are now gone and I say 'good riddance'.
Good work on the part of the moderator.
