The first thing I would do (after removing the 100k resistor) is to confirm with your tech that the pot is a log taper and not a linear taper. I tappears to be a linear taper where you need a log.

I never heard of log VS linear control, but from how you are using the term I am guessing that the linear control is stepped such that a graph would read as a straight line 45 degrees, and a log must curve up if represented on a graph..
Any further explanation is appreciated thanks for the reply I can check with the tech and see if this is the case..
