Huge subject. For a start Tango has ceased trading and Tamura is downsizing so Hashimoto is the usual suspect for a boutique high quality and price transformer. Doesn't look like this is an option. Bud Purvine is winding down at O-Netics. Good gear there.
This leaves some good midrange models - Lundahl LL1620 is good if you can get a good price on it. Look on the K&K forum and ask Kevin the importer. I can't comment on One Electron or Magnequest since I'm in Europe and they're not economic for me.
James is a popular option - check that range, excellent value. I suspect that Silk in Thailand is a little better but haven't had any myself. Good price again. Curious about those.
Which leaves Edcor and Transcendar - pretty good lower end, especially Transcendar. Probably both better than Hammond.
Personally I'd take a long hard look at the Silk range.

I noticed that the o-netics are made specifically for guitars..... does that transition work ok? They really don't say anything about using them for audio amps that I could see.
No - Bud is well known for supplying high end customers such as Lynn Olsen. Very audiophile.

I spoke too soon, having trouble finding a dealer. Who do you recommend?
My bad- I put in a search for onetics and what came up had that in big letters across the top of the page, but it was a guitar supply company. I did find the others when i looked some more. Thanks.
Thanks Andy. Sounds like I have some research to do. A couple of those are totally new to me.
