I have some operating criteria for a low voltage 211 amp that is supposed to sound really good, and I would like to try building it. Unfortunately I do not have a schematic for it. Does anyone know of a web site that goes through putting together a design if you know the parameters you need?
I know the following are required:
plate volts 480 vdc
plate current 40 madc
grid volts -20 vdc
load resistance 10k ohms
power output is suppsed to be about 2.5 watts, which would be plenty with my altec granadas.
If anyone happens to have a schem for such an amp that would be cool too.
Thanks!

VinnieI don't know of any website but
I have done that for many people.
EM me and we can put something together.DanL
PS I am thinking either an ECC99 or a 6EM7 driver.

Hi Dan, I have some 211 tubes and wanted to use them for a SE amp but was leery of running an amp at 1000vdc. Do you have any schematics for something around 600vdc? I would be very interested in pursuing that. cheers, Dak
The problem here is that with -20 volts of bias and a low mu tube, the limit on your power output will be A2 grid cutoff on peaks on almost any usage. You will need a very heavy duty driver to cover that. The absolute best application of lower voltage 211/845 is from Tubelab (see link) . You can run this on 400 - 500 volts B+ with lower power compared to the 1000 in the schematic.
There's a lot there to go through. Thanks for the link!
