Nathan was originally going to do this show with his brother but double booked and was doing some benefit somewhere.
Phil and Jonathan were total, over the top, nuts and rip it up, as usual.
We had about 45 to 50 in the audience. That's about all the yard will take comfortably.
It was a really good night and everyone had a great time.
Sjoerd Koppert was impressed and thought my little PA system did a "really good job".
P.S. Sjoerd bought Jim Messina's old recording studio and my cousin Aaron is his foreman on the soon to be completed rebuild project.

I'm sure it was over the top. They kinda exist there.
It's not common that the brothers play together, but they sometimes do.
I'm more than glad I accidentally caught one of the best shows I'd ever seen, with just Jonathon and Nathan at Zoey's in Ventura.
We know they can play, and sing, and harmonize better than well, but there's an extra dimension (to me) when these 2 get together. Of course there's a little competition, but they know each other so well, and their voices are genetically related, and they both can go ribatto with uncanny precision, it actually gets so funny (and good), you either laugh or cry or both !

Exactly! It gets so good, it's hard to believe it's real. You kind of just shake your head and pinch yourself.

Yes, it looks like a great venue.
Observe, before you think. Think before you open your yap. Act on the basis of experience.
That's what all the player say. Of course most of them are used to playing noisy clubs and bars where everybody's drunk and almost nobody is really listening.
My yard is cozy and quiet with beautiful trees all around. I keep the PA at a low level. It doesn't need to be loud in this space. People actually pay attention and listen. I go for a clean and clear mix. It's very easy to mix here.
I always get a lot of complements on the sound. This is mostly do to the space, I explain, "It's very easy to get a good mix in this space, at these levels and with these great players".

I'm in Ojai, CAOjai is in a small, tight valley that runs east/west. (there's something special about east/west valleys)
When you're in Ojai you would never guess that you are only 84 miles from downtown Los Angeles.
Ojai is very peaceful and serene.
