Triode Electronics used to carry the plugs, too. To be safer you need the kind with a metal back that encloses the plug. In the world of heathkit, you make the connector yourself, it doesn't come with a cord attached, you have to make it. I'd use modern wire like Kimber teflon covered. I find that the pins on these can take a fair amount of heat before solder will flow, so I use an old-style soldering "gun" on them (also handy for making heavy ground connections, etc.) Basically, you strip off some insulation, shove it into the back of the hollow pin, put some solder in the front of the pin and heat it up until solder flows and internally connects the wire to the pin. Probably don't need to mention it, but be very careful that these kinds of connectors are completely seated before you turn things on, they'll be carrying a lot of B+ when live!

If I am not mistaken, both of those units only need plugs fro wall power - the SP2A is self-powered, IE you do not need to plug it into the amp, as is the case with the Heath WAP-1. Or I am mis-understanding the issue?
Oy,
The pre-amp is self powered as you stated. The power amp on/off however is thru the octal plug from the pre-amp. It was suggested to jump the octal plug(pins #6&7) and just run the power out plug to the input on the amp if I do not have the octal plug, but that also is did not work. I believe the units are good so I must be doing something wrong. The solution is probably right in front of me, but sometimes you don't see the Forrest thru the trees!
Thanx for your inquiry about this.
