Anyone ever try implementing motor start caps for cathode bypass? I've used motor run for power supplies as the size requirements can be met however for cathode bypass it's another story. Motor start caps on the other hand are much smaller relatively speaking so as one could shoe horn them into a chassis if required. And since the voltage demands are less it would seem they might work. I haven't as yet taken a hammer to one to see what typically is inside one. I should have kept the ones that I've seen explode when a start relay hangs up and unrolled them, but I didn't.

I've seen them go off at line voltage but cathode voltage in most applications I would be using are much lower. However it would be something I would want to test out first. Don't think I want scrape cap goo from the innards of a finished amp.

The Motor Start caps do not like to be energized continuously. They will heat up and die/explode if you leave them charged up for long periods of time. Just use Solens.
