UL SE KT88's will really need some global feedback. This will probably negate some of the quality issues of the output transformers, but it wouldn't be my first choice.
The OPT's look like Transcendars,...?...the PT looks like a Hammond Z mount tranny...?, take your pick which model...solid state rectification...cap input filter / C-L-C... filter choke looks like crap.
Its about a few hunerd bucks worth of parts...maybe $250-$300 including the tubes...
For the asking price of the amp plus shipping (roughly $1000) you can build a much better amp for that kind of money (IMO) or buy something used (Manley Stingray) of much better build/sound quality...plus coming from Israel (unknown packing quality), you risk shipping damage and the long drawn out cluster f*ck associated with that scenario...
Just my six-pence...
It is a 6SL7 SRPP stage into a KT88 built with really cheap parts. I would estimate about three hundred dollars worth of parts.
This is the simplest puppy in the world to put together and would make a nice first project. I actually have built an amp almost identical to this, (albeit with a much better power supply, transformers, case, connectors, volume pot and tubes) and it sounds nice. It collects dust with great accuracy in the closet now.
If you want a less snarky answer than one given in DIY, post on "Tubes" for the store bought folks.

Thanks Guys for the feedback, it certainly looks like a starter amp, and that's not what I am after.
sometimes things need to get into the right perspective when you're looking for good sound, thanks for the heads up you'all.
Certainly thank wheezer for putting it out there, I'm stil a newbie when it comes to tubes, and like other peoples opinion here.
Triodes definitely do it for me, it just has to be the right type of triode, I have listened to triodes in the past and 300B are a little too soft in the bottom, 2A3 though very good and well balanced sounding, don't have enough power (2 to 3 watts) to drive a 94 dB efficient speaker, it takes a minimum of 6 to 10 watts to really move them into the area of music that I like. I have heard the KT88/6550 and think of what I've heard so far in tubes I believe these strapped in triode have the best combination of bloom, top end and bass authority, that I have seen so far, especially a very tight and controlled bottom.
Granted I have not heard the super exotic SE like the 845 and others like 6V6, 6C33C, etc.
Thanks guys for the comments.

hey-Hey!!!,
I'd rather take the $750 and build Pete Millett's SE, KT88 E-Linear amp. That one I've heard( built to Pete's spec ), on my own system and was quite impressed with it.
cheers,
Douglas
Friend, I would not hurt thee for the world...but thou art standing where I am about to shoot.
The outputs look like Transcendar's at first glance.

Chris,
A friend had asked me to comment on it; you've done a good job talking him out of it. :-)
Thanks,
Mitch
These guys have a website. But they don't list it, and I can't find it in my favorites. I contacted them; they wrote back and answered my questions directly and correctly. I can't vouch for the product, just that I think they are legitimate. Isreal is a pretty high-cost country. This amp could benefit from a more powerful PS with more smoothing/filtering. The caps are pretty basic, too. It's hard to tell about the OPTs.

I have seen that amp on eBay for several months. I was impressed with the nice build quality, neat layout, and apparently decent looking transformers. It looks to me like a great way for a beginner to get into an amp without having to scratch build one. There is plenty of 'real estate' to add more filter caps and other refinements. The $170 shipping from Israel is a big financial hit on top of the cost of the amp.
While it may not be the ultimate in terms of sound quality, and certainly triodes float my boat, if it was a little cheaper I would think it would be perfect for the beginner to get into a tube amps and it's perfect as a base with which to experiment.
