You may also want to consider the Audio Note kits. Their instruction manuals are excellent. I'm going to be starting their DAC2.1 soon.

The shortcut is an example of their building manuals.

  I'll give AN stuff very careful consideration. Their price, in general, are little high for my budget, but no doubt the quality of components is very high.
