i payed i think $70 for it like 20 years ago. but i see them on ebay for like $300 IF they are in good shape. mine looks like it's in good shape but the insides could be full of rust for all i know. there is an old thread about service in the bay area. maybe 3 years old. i guess i could start there. the guy around here that works on pro machines said junk it and get something else. ha! but fixing it for $200 makes little sense to me.

thanks. i called them. they don't work on akai. wah. they said there was a place in sacramento that does but i'm not sure it's worth it really. gotta be someone else near san francisco.

Heard lots of good things about Surtech in San Jose.Check out their website
well, i took my tapes into mr toads last week. turns out the old tape gooed up the machine. i don't know how this effects the...roller pin? that is stuck. they are going to bake the tapes, transfer them to digital, and hopefully repair the tape deck. we'll see how that works out.
