My favorite local emporium turned up a few sealed packs (I am guessing 1990s vintage, probably late 1990s) of Maxell Type II cassette tapes yesterday. There were two single UDXLII (labeled made in Mexico) and a two-pack of a tape formulation called UCXLII-S (labeled made in the UK). I don't know anything about the latter tape formulation; anyone here got any insight or opinion about it?
Thanks!
all the best,

Follow Ups:
Maxell, as well as others, developed a finer metal particle to use in their tape formulations. Maxell designated this tape with an "S" on the end of the model. If memory serves they had improved high freq performance compared to the non "S" version of the same type of tape.

Yes, excellent tape. At one point I had hundreds of tapes that I had recorded myself and except for when I wanted the best of the best I would use the XLII-S tape.
