I have an Aragon 24k preamp with a noisey Noble volume pot. Does any one have any idea where a replacement (new or used) can be obtained?
Thanks in advance
www.percyaudio.com. Limited quantities available.
lubricate it. Saturate the pot with LPS 1 or, better yet, Caig, makes a special lubrication for pots. I forget what it's called. Turn the preamp upside down so that the fluid can be sprayed into the solder leads of the pot and allow it to sit for a a few hours, really saturating the pot. Wipe off the excess and then run the pot from one extreme to the the other. Should clear up the noise.

Thanks Stu. I assume you do the spraying through the gaps after you loosen off the two screws which hold the pot together.
I simply soak the top of the pot first, allowing capillary action to draw in the LPS. Usually about 5 minutes will allow enough to penetrate. It won't penetrate evenly, so moving the knob back and forth will clean and distribute the oil. Again if you turn the preamp over, you can often see the solder pins. where there is a gap allowing the lubricant to enter. If soldered fairly flush to the PCB, then simply flood the area between the pot and the board, and allow it to sit for a while. You may need a couple of applications. You can actually 'feel' the difference when turning the knob. Once lubricated, the knob will be smoother in action and will not have the 'gritty' feel.
Good Luck,
Stu
