They look like a 500-1K speaker. Surely there is something that makes them special? Nothing in the description to alert one.

Follow Ups:
Consider the price of other speakers based on the same design concept.
DeVore O/93 goes for $8400
DeVore O/96 is $12k
Trenner & Friedl Pharoah is $13k.
I don't know the price of the T&F Ra, but it is up there too
Heco Direkt seems like a relative bargain to me.
Hi Dave - the RA is over $25,000.
These speakers would be a great comparison to the Audio Note E/LX which I just sold in December and retailed for $5800. Though it is probably more comparable to the AN E/D with paper woofer that lists for just $3,985 US.
I would absolutely love to see someone pit this Heco up against the E/D.
Personally - I REALLY want to here these speakers because I really love affordable easy to drive speakers and this Heco Direkt was reviewed off of an Audio Note OTO (one of the best and affordable SE amplifiers on the market for the last 25+ years).
I would like to see a lot more of these wide baffle higher sensitive speakers out there at affordable price points than slim line towers with a bunch of woofers covering the same frequency with some ringy dingy metal tweeter pinging things at me.
AN E/D gives you the old school wooden box look and these HECOs have a modern look but similar Snell approach. I hope I can find a pair to try out down the line. Editor's choice in Hi-Fi Choice isn't too bad and Hi-fi Critic gave them a best buy. I'm okay with the racing stripe too.
RGA,
I was ready to track my delivery of these interesting speakers.
Based on claimed specs, intro price along with a return policy, make them a home run.
Distributor apparently has vanished and has left the vendor with paid orders and no product.
If situation gets straightened out, I still may grab a pair. Getting used to the 67 Camaro rally stripes should be easy if they sound great. I think they will sound amazing
I guess my apprehension was that they are an unknown, at least to me. Not that that is an indication that they aren't good. It's just that I'm more familiar with the others you mention.
And to an earlier point, yes most high end speakers are overpriced to a certain extent. But as with all things, it's whatever the market will bear. I just usually chose to wait for them to hit the used market at 40% of retail before I make a move.

Some have noted lots of these already on the used market, here and there. Might be worth a look - and a think. I'm sure they're nice 'at first blush'.

They were initially being offered with try before you buy, so I had just the shipping return charges to loose.
Aren't just about all speakers overpriced based on looks?
The specs show them above average for their cost. Frequency and sensitivity above the asking price. also, the write ups are positive. The plain looks caught my attention, although the racing stripe I could do without.
Oh well, I have my 5k to shop around. I have a couple including used on the list.
Just a thought. If of interest you can check out the exhibitor list to see if anything is of interest to you. Maybe even contact the mfgs to arrange for a specific time to stop in.
I'm not trying to poke holes in your purchase. I just didn't see or read anything that would make me want to drop 2.5K, much less 5K, on these dimunutive two way speakers.

Orangutan O/96 DeVORE FIDELITY
Same basic 10" two way , even with same tweeter horn loading
Price $12,000
But you well know the insanity that often dictates pricing in this hobby of late.
I've heard and like the O/96. But the price doesn't begin to equate or even come close to working.....for me anyway. Same for the O/93.
The Heco may have borrowed some design ideas, certainly not that veneer!
I won't hold my breath and wait for a listing at my budget.
Based on specs and the short lived intro price, it's possibly an "under the radar" "sleeper"
buy. The racing stripe I could do without, but tolerable-if they sound great.
Since I'm not stuck on any specific design, I will just keep my eyes open for interesting deals.
