I have a pair of 8" Utah coaxials, Pandore's,never heard of them, nice sound. These speakers may have come from a church.
These are in a bass reflex box, does anyone know if there is a capacitor for the tweeter inside somewhere?
As old as these are, the cap must need replaced.
Also the "Cap" on the motor, is a cardboard lid resonating in the wind, which I am assuming is bad for coherent sound.
Is this cap part of the motor design or is it merely a dust cap?
I would like to remove this cap if it does not mess anything else up.
I taped sound absorbtion material to this cap, it must still be
resonating though. I would really like to remove this cardboard cap altogether.
Is this a good plan or am I going to ruin these?

I have one of those 8" "Pandore" units, blue cast frame. Go ahead
and take the cover off the back and see if cap is there. If not, it would be near the tweeter unit in front or on input terminal, or attached to the frame behind cone. You can leave the covers off, great idea IMO.I'll look at mine Tues. and see if it has a cap. I have no specs. or
enclosure ideas for you.

Coner, thanks for the info, I am considering the "Dayton Woofer Tester", to come up with the specs, does anyone have an opinion of this device?
I have heard pros and cons.
thanks again!
It works great, and also very accurate at measuring caps, coils and
resistors. I'll see if I can get specs on the Utah, it's not
actually mine, but have access to it.
thanks for the info about the woofer tester,
now i need to save a $99.
Used, orig. cone.
