I recently bought a pair of Theil CS 2.2's and love them. Very coherent and balanced, great imaging and soundstage. Your Pass will handle them with ease. There is (was?) a pair being sold on ebay by a dealer for just over 1K. Or maybe 3.5's for not much more.
Follow Ups:
While there were other smaller speaker manufacturers who utilized time/phase coherent designs, Dunlavy (Duntech/DAL), Vandersteen, and Thiel were I believe the major ones. So there are many similarities in sonics.
However to my ears the Thiel speakers have a brighter presentation than Duntech/DAL and Vandersteen. So that becomes a matter of personal preference.
I've also read that Pass amps are particularly well suited to Thiels.

Will sound bright if its needs are not addressed properly.
Having said that, the best sounding Thiel speakers that I've heard when they were driven by Audio Research tube gear that include the ARC Ref pre amplifier.

The 2.2's are not bright. They don't have metal drivers (except for the aluminum dome tweeter) like later models have; at least in the "2" range.
drive the Thiel CS 3.6 as well with ease, which is much better.
