I read that you simply add inline a 39-47k resistor on the positive leg and a 1k resistor between positive and ground, you can attenuate the signal from a high voltage to a low voltage subwoofer plate amp input.
Before I blow up an amp and a subwoofer plate amp - is this true?

Yes! That will attenuate the signal from the speaker terminals of your power amplifier so you can connect it to the line-level RCA inputs on your powered subwoofer.
Good luck,

Thanks John
Good to be sure of these things before making very expensive smoke.
Hi Charles. Do you have a receiver or amp that doesn't have a low level output & a sub that has a low level input? I have used a RadioShack car stereo line out converter to send a low level ( RCA ) signal to another amp. I just hooked it up in parallel to the speaker outputs. It does not effect impedence! Your subwoofer would crossover the lows to the sub.
I'll check out both options. I have a RS right here in town.
Yes
