They didn't sound anywhere near as good as the JBL L100/4311 when new.
The foam edges have long, long ago since disintegrated.
You have a monkey coffin (dog, cat, etc).
A 4311 is a much better loudspeaker, and the drivers won't rot away.

Bart Locanthi, it was considered an updated JBL L-100 but, arguably, did not sound as good.To call The Altec 7 the answer to the L-100 is revisionist history.

I had a pair of HPM 900's and were a really nice sounding speaker but that crazy material they used on the woofer that if it was damaged that was it for that speaker! I hear the HPM 150's are really nice but I have never heard a pair.
The Altec Model 9 series II was away better speaker than the Model 7's.
