Agreed! I returned after a week. If they sounded better I might have lived with the cheap skin. The mdf was peeking through at the corners and they hadn't even been touched. I figure the packing must have rubbed.

... that a significantly better and more durable vinyl wrap or "veneer" would significantly up the cost of a pair of speakers that are mass-produced in Asia. It's a waste of manufacturing energy and materials to produce hardware with shoddy finishes designed to trick the eye at the first glance.It's true though, some consumers will balk at the prospect of spending $129 instead of $99 for a thing. What, oh what, is a mother to do?

For what they cost, I'm well pleased. If you want a better sounding, better looking speaker, they can always be had for more money.
By all reports they do sound very good, for the money.
One can only hope that better finish options will become available. I'd hate to sneeze on a pair and have the cheesy vinyl contact-paper finish peel away at the edges...
