no,i just got them when I moved to Tucson. Knew I needed a sensitive speaker and found them at the antique mall. The dry climate probably explains why the brightness controls still work. One driver is a bit sun bleached and I'm toying the idea of painting them with some diluted elmer's glue,( though I hear there is better stuff out there) and I'm wondering what they are stuffed with and if its disintegrated. I'm enjoying them too much right now. I want to recap the crossover but the local repair guy outright refused. I imagine shipping wouldn't be too much, but I'm enjoying them too much right now.
Follow Ups:
Coating with diluted Elmers(basically like the PVA coating used on Bextrene cones) will, of course, change the speaker sound in many ways.
I am worried about that, but also worried about 50 year old paper cones. I hear that there are products that stay flexible when dry. Of course anything is going to add mass. The woofer is actually part aluminum sandwiched inside (or since they are British I should say aluminium)and they have a pvc surround.
I sympathize, damned if you do, damned if you don't. You're probably lucky with the PVC. Redoing foam on an elliptical shape has to be a pain.
