You didn't say why you want to replace the drivers.
If the foam surrounds are bad, I hope that you have considered replacing them. It's a cheap, easy way to get them sounding like new.
If you are trying to improve the midrange response, you are in for a bigger challenge. The Heil tweeter crossover frequency is 1200 to 1500Hz. You would need to find a 10" driver with a smooth response well past that range, and also compatible with the cabinet tuning.
With the design improvements to drivers over the last 30 years you should be able to find a better one. But the last time I tried putting different woofers in my ESS speakers I ended up going back to the refoamed originals. Good luck, and please report back on your progress.

Thanks manerac. The "ESS" replacement is something I may do. But, I have not had a great experience in going with ESS replacement parts in the past as the ESS company has changed hands many times since originally creating the ESS AMT. Was the current "ESS" replacement woofer really selected with the great care that would have made Oskar Heil proud? That aside, the ESS AMT1 was a very good but not perfect speaker (to my ears) when first made. In short, the original woofer failed to reproduce the lowest bass that my Paradigm subwoofer will now handle and it could not respond as fast as the amazing Heil AMT tweeter. And, the original woofer could not reproduce the vocals to my 100% satisfaction regardless of the brightness setting used on the crossover. Thus, my quest to see if I can find any better replacement driver.
I'm not sure if my Heil tweeter crossover frequency is 1200 to 1500Hz. This is my model of the ESS AMT1
Well, specs say 600 Hz. The orig. 10" should have no problem
getting there...check for old electrolytic capacitors, and just replace
them.
Also...I think the 10" uses a felt/fabric dustcap?. You can replace
those with a paper type that should help upper mid response.
You will see paper or aluminum caps on "extended range" woofers
(for a reason).
