The KG is fairly well regarded. You pretty much stole them at that price, LOL. The KG, Forte and Chorus are usually the vintage series to look for, not to mention anything in the Heritage line. A lot of the Reference series in recent years are very good as well.
I'm sure you may have noticed the Klipsch don't need the volume control to go up so high? It also helps to have the speakers pointed toward the listening position due to the horns directivity.
Enjoy!
Follow Ups:
I am loving them as the best thrift find so far. The Polks were nice, but needed new crossover and all sorts of other stuff, ended up sounding nice but no bargain.
Infinity 225 were another $10 pair that ended up being a $100 pair after all the replacements and they sounded nice but underwhelming.
Now these are singing compared to the other two. A vast improvement in sound and they are MINT. I just need to touch up a few blemished spots on the box.
No horns in these, but they are very easy to drive.
I didn't realize Klipsch did something different in the 2.5. I found these specs for the 2.5 if you haven't seen them yet.

Looks like current sale ads vary from $100 to $250, keep in mind that's asking price.
You can do a search for Bob Crites who sells upgrade parts and mods for many models of Klipsch
Methinks they were doing a little brand-adherance there. I totally missed that the tweeter was in a tiny horn...however you were 100% right. Toed in a few degrees makes a pretty big difference in the sound stage. (so maybe it's a "real horn" after all :) ) These image pretty well and the more I listen, the more I like!
I can't wait to see what beats them! And thanks for the Crites reference. I will look him up!
