Looking for your recommendations for a 12" 4 ohm driver for my sub.Primary use is for home theater.
Follow Ups:
Sub drivers are usually very closely matched to their cabinet and (especially) their electronics. For any sub worth mentioning, that would be VERY closely matched. I'd be surprised if you couldn't get just as good a sub as what you have for the price of the replacement driver, a driver that will last for more than a few hours. Just being honest.
I am sure your local e.g. SVS dealer (there are some in Canada) or used from "the mart" (people regularly upgrade subs it seems, once they get a taste...) has something where your $$ would be better spent. OTOH if you just want to throw a speaker that fits into the box...
Sure we all want everything perfect. However not only can a decent driver superior to the original be had for just $55 but it is pretty close to the proper parameters. See link. Pretty close counts in horse shoes and sub cabinets. This is much less $ than a new complete sub too. Driver is in my link in my post below. Pionerrs site has all the patrameters to plug in to box design software.

I was more thinking of the practical aspect of *importing* a 12" driver to Canada. Not worth it, unless it's something "special", like for a speaker that you have in a pair and want OEM/matching etc. Never correlate the price of something in the U.S. to what it might cost to get to/in Canada. :) Shipping of some larger/heavier objects can kill the value proposition.Compared to what you could get a quite decent used lower model of SVS sub for here. Their distributor imports in largish quantities, and the prices are very comparable here to in the U.S. (after exchange rate), so are also reasonably priced used. Plus with their upgrade policy, you can get some fine deals on the lower models that people upgraded too.
I still recommend replacing a "designed" sub driver with the OEM one. But then, what some brands call a sub is merely a larger speaker in a box, as opposed to the smaller drivers in their "not subs", so I guess it wouldn't matter there.

Yep shipping to Canada is a bummer. Didnt even look at his .ca address. Staples.ca does not have the sub just the US site.

Who knew. Heres a four ohm Pioneer for $55. Im almost sure its better than what came with your sub. 95dB efficient too.

...but the Dayton subs from Parts Express work quite well for both music and HT. Parts Express also has the appropriate-sized enclosures and several good plate amplifiers if you're rolling your own.But as awe-d-o says, if you're trying to stuff a new woofer into an existing box we need more inflammation.

You said for my sub. Does that mean you have a cabinet already? If so we need to know the dimensions. If you are just replacing a driver in a sub we should also know the power source and how much powerET

It is a Pioneer SW100 with a 100 watt amp,simply need a 12" driver to replace original.
Thanx for your assistance. The sub is ported,it extends 12" into the cabinet and is 3" in diameter. The speaker impedance is 4 ohms.
I couldnt find a sw 100 by pioneer. We need to know if the driver is four or eight ohmscro match the amp and cabinet and port data to get a proper driver.
