I'm sure I'm overthinking this, but I'm torn between what I've read about the Jones Elac B6 (which are new) and the Klipsch RB-61 II (which I can pick up locally for around $280)... The Klipsch gets some of the top-rated reviews for a bookshelf speaker, but the newer B6 seems to hold its own.
The system is really not high-end, but I've put together a combo that works for the basement bar:
Audio-Technica LP120 turntables
Behringer VMX300 Mixer
Alesis RA300 Amp feeds Klipsch K6 4 speakers (dancefloor at end of room)
Alesis RA150 Amp feeds Klipsch KSB 3.1 speakers (DJ area other end)
Alesis RA150 Amp feeds ??? (bar area in middle of room)
So- I'm looking at a pair of speakers to fill the sound in the bar area, which is closer to the Dj area than the dancefloor... if the speakers fit just right they create a center that completes the really full sound (left) of the dancefloor and the fill (right) of the DJ area.
I know this sounds crazy, but when it all comes together we really like spending time in the bar... Any feedback would be appreciated!

I haven't heard the Elac but thought the bass had to extend further than the RB61. But after reading your post completely I'd use the RB61 without hesitation, simply because the sound would match the Klipsch you already have. Same as in home theater, when mixing a lot of speakers that will play at the same time the closer the timbre matches the better the sound will blend or seem more seamless. Also, you'd probably have to drive the Elac pretty hard for them to even be heard. The Klipsch are high efficient which means it doesn't take much power to make them loud.
Plus one on what Mr. Peabody said.
