B&W metal domes are just annoying.
Fine short term but not long term.
So some are worse than others.
I had one cheap ribbon that annoyed me too.
Fostex full range drivers are really brutal
so I suspect all spikes really get to me.
I heard several at an audio show and
some had me running out of the room and
others were so bad I couldn't enter the room.
So spike sensitivity and extended hearing
make speaker selection quite interesting.
I have 3 systems now -
DIY Transmission Line Audax/Dynaudio
DIY Infinite Baffle Audax/Dynaudio
Magnepan MGLR-1 (Modified)

Follow Ups:
i have been annoyed by some berrylium tweeters. also, the coincident driver in thiels has never worked for me. i heard the small kef ls50's in a large room at an audio show and really liked that driver. go figure.

Drivers are drivers, however, cross-over(s) are a different beast.
do what I do. avoid crossovers altogether
