I purchased a pair of Aon 2s based on my experience with one of its bigger brothers, the Triton 7. The Aons replaced an aging pair of LS3/5a 15 ohm clones I've used for the past 35 years. I use the speakers in a small office setting for casual listening and audio mixing.
These speakers are a wonderful value. The tonal balance is very natural -- voices and acoustic instruments sound as they should, with good imaging and depth. The Aon 2 uses the same superb folded ribbon Heil-type tweeter as their more expensive models, so the highs are quite extended with no hint of brittleness or undue emphasis. Bass depth and quality is extremely impressive for such a small box. Efficiency is 89 dB at 8 ohms, so they are easy to drive.
Sonically, I cannot find any negatives -- I could easily live with the Aons as my only set of speakers.
Visually, they are a departure from the typical veneered wood box used by the majority of speaker makers. I have mixed emotions about the shape. On one level they are distinctive and a nice change of pace, while on the other, I read a description that their truncated pyramid design reminded the writer of Darth Vader's helmet. That description has stuck with me, rather the visual equivalent of an ear worm.
However, their excellent sound at an extremely attractive price makes them worth a close look for anyone interested in a small bookshelf speaker.

I have the Aon3s. It is an excellent speaker. Extreme detail without being bright.
The only negatives,
The sock. Cant look at the beautiful tweeter. Sometimes I like grills off. Not an option with the GE.
No bi wiring / bi amping.
I was able to hear the T5 at Axpona this year. It is an amazing speaker. It sounded better than many of the six figure offerings at the show.
Thanks for the nice review. I am considering these for a second system. Have you had a chance to use them with a sub?

No, I'm not a sub person so can't help there.
