Infinity's are nice replacements and very sensitive so volume is not an issue. If your doing a complete system look at JL Audio.

Yes, not gonna change the radio/amp other than use Pono as the source. Thanks for the reply.
an aftermarket amp and processor would make a huge difference, vice just changing the speakers. I have Dynaudios in my Audi, but they are powered by an Arc Audio amp and the PS8 processor which adds great soundstaging and timing benefits (I also have an Arc Audio Black sub).
I heard a couple of car systems with Dynaudio using Audison amps & one of those processors. I literally could not believe what I was hearing, the sound was so good and the sound stage was in front of me despite where the speakers were located, it was incredible. Sound that good could be distracting while trying to drive, LOL. The Dynamat is a worth while addition no matter the level of gear in the auto.
If that's the same type of processor you were talking about they are a game changer to car audio.
Processors make a huge difference. I also owned a JBL MS-8 before my current Arc Audio PS8, and it too made a night and day difference in terms of imaging and sub integration. Dynamat is a must...
Best car speakers I ever had were the Dahlquists - forget the model number, but were small black boxes, 3-way, and really wonderful.

I started with a speaker upgrade then a JL Audio amp, vibration absorption and couplers for the door speakers. My Miata is only missing a sub.
I'm sure that's true - upgrading my amp made about as big a difference in my home system as upgradi9ng the speakers. Still, it sounds like the speakers themselves are the weakest link.
My wife has a 2002 Passat with the Monsoon system. It might be the best car audio system I have heard. I wish I new from where VW sourced those speakers.
It has more to do with the inside of the cars shape, materials, where the speakers are placed, etc. You could put the Monsoon system in a different car and it might only sound average.
I also had a Passat (three actually) including a 2000 V6 model (with manual transmission of course!) that had the Monsoon. My aftermarket equipment from my previous car (Nakamichi head unit, Soundstream amps, A/D/S component speakers and Boston Pro sub) quickly replaced the Monsoon, however. Once you go with aftermarket, it's tough to go back to a stock system. I will say that my Audi's stock system was the best I'd ever heard (much better than the highly touted DVD 5-channel system in the Acura TL, which I owned for a while), but my current system is clearly better. Of course the down side is always having to remove/replace the equipment when you trade cars...I may be wrong, but I think Panasonic may have been at least a partial OEM for the Monsoon system...
Yes, Panasonic + monsoon were partners.
Also read that Clarion made some of the head units...
